Battle Bowls Club
Welcome to our website. We hope that you find the content interesting.
Our bowls club was founded in 1905 and is located approximately half a kilometre east of the historic town of Battle ( 1066 ) in East Sussex. The club is affiliated to Sussex County Bowls and is an Associate Member of Bowls England.
Our current club membership is 82 comprising of 52 men and 30 ladies.
The club has a 6 rink lawn bowls playing surface. We play mainly mixed matches, our season commencing in April each year and closing in September. We participate in Rother League matches as well as having a comprehensive fixture list involving friendly matches with local clubs. Additionally, there are numerous internal club competitions, which take place during the summer for those who wish to take part. We encourage bowlers of all skill levels to become involved. We also hold a 'Spoon Drive' event each Thursday afternoon throughout the season, weather permitting. This event provides an opportunity for potential bowlers to 'try their hand' perhaps with a view to becoming a club member, and for experienced bowlers to have a fun afternoon. It's very much a social occasion, with a hint of a competitive edge. Just a hint!
We are a friendly club who always welcome new members, be they experienced bowlers or beginners. Our philosophy is simple 'enjoy your bowls'. Should you wish to consider joining us, or would just like more information, please feel free to contact our Membership Secretary or General Secretary.
